Outside the Studio

Becoming a journalist isn't just reporting on what's happening, but being involved within the community! Here are some examples of ways I've devoted myself to spreading the importance of strong journalism in my day-to-day life:

01

Future of Journalism

A few months into my return to Houston, I spoke with Journalism students at a local (primarily-Hispanic) high school about the news and its future! After speaking with them, I was even mentioned in their midterm exam (as pictured)!

Moderating for WHM

Getting the opportunity to moderate Engage! Cleveland's 'Lift as you Climb' event was so inspiring! Giving young women advice on mentors, and mentoring was so powerful and important.

Hispanic Heritage Month Speech

After reporting in Cleveland for a bit over a year, I was invited to speak about my heritage and career to children at a local private school from grades K-9!

Baseball Season

While in Cleveland, I had to see what all the hype was about! After watching a couple innings...

Career Day

While visiting my hometown, I made a stop at a local elementary school to talk about my life as a reporter, and hopefully inspire the future generation of journalists!

06

Learning from the Pros

While in college, I attended a journalist-based

all-day event. Many students (including me) got to speak with a few professionals from the field, and ask them questions!
